On the 21” touch screen terminal all dimensions and recipes with the corresponding parameters are stored for the automatic control unit:

FULLY AUTOMATED CHANGE OF DIMENSION IN THREE STEPS:

Step 1: Selection of dimension

The line operator selects the requested recipe and pipe dimension filed in the 21“ touch screen terminal, the rest is done by the ADVANTAGE control:

  • In accordance with the recipe, the mass throughput rate of the extruder will be adjusted to the new working point. For this purpose the gravimetric system receives a new set point
  • The inner diameter of the calibration sleeve  is adapted to the new pipe dimension
  • The haul-off unit ramps to a new haul-off speed

 

 

Step 2: Activation of the line tracking

The guide parameter for diameter adjustment is the flexible calibration sleeve. It adapts to the set pipe dimension with a precision of 0.02 mm. Based on this adjustment, the line tracking module automatically adapts all other ADVANTAGE components:

  • Switch-off of the measuring and control functions of the gravimetric system and the ultrasonic wall thick­ness measurement
  • Change of the water flow on the inlet of the calibration sleeve
  • Pressure setting at the vacuum tank
  • Adaptation of the flexible pipe support
  • Adaptation of the flexible vacuum seal
  • Re-setting of the caterpillar position of the haul-off unit and re-positioning of the saw blades 

Step 3: Restart of the measuring and control technology

When the dimensional change has been completed, the measuring and control functions, which are required to reach bottom tolerance limits are turned on again.

  • Restart of the gravimetry with updated values
  • Restart, control and optimization of the wall thickness with updated bottom tolerances
